Privacy
This page says what personal information this site and the shop collect, who holds it, and what it is used for. “We” means Nanette Smalley, who sells the book here.
When you order the book
Checkout is run by Stripe. Stripe’s checkout collects your name, email address, shipping address and payment details, and a billing address when the payment needs one. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us: we never see your full card number. Stripe shows us your name, email address, shipping address, what you ordered, how you paid (for a card, its type and last four digits), and the rough location of the connection you paid from, which Stripe uses to check for fraud. We use them to send the book, to answer you about your order or a return, and to keep the records the law asks of a seller. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what Stripe does with what it collects.
If you pay through another service that Stripe offers at checkout, such as a digital wallet or a pay-later plan, that service also handles your payment, under its own privacy policy.
When your book ships
To send a book we print a shipping label with your name and address. The postal service or courier that carries the parcel sees the name and address on the label.
When you email us
Our email runs on Microsoft 365. If you write to us, we keep your message and your email address so we can answer you and keep track of orders and returns.
If you sign up for our newsletter
If you sign up, your email address is held by Kit, the service that sends the newsletter. We use it only to send the newsletter, and every issue has a link to unsubscribe.
When you use the sign-up box, the site’s own code keeps your IP address in the server’s memory, to limit repeated tries. It does not save it to a file or a log, and does not pass it to Kit.
When you visit the site
The site is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, Vercel records information about the visit, such as your IP address, the rough location it points to, your browser and the pages you ask for. It is used to run the site and keep it safe. Vercel’s privacy notice says more.
The site’s own pages set no cookies, store nothing in your browser, and carry no advertising, analytics or tracking code. Stripe’s checkout page may set cookies of its own, which Stripe’s privacy policy explains.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers. We share it only with the services described on this page, for the jobs described here, or when the law requires it.
Where it is kept
The services named on this page may store your information in the United States. We keep order records for as long as tax and bookkeeping rules require.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@nanettecooks.com from the address you used with us. If the law requires us to keep an order record, we’ll tell you.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes too.
